I write to report briefly on the status of the search for a new Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. We have an extraordinarily engaged and effective search committee that has worked diligently to first generate a large pool of candidates and then to evaluate them. That process surfaced four candidates who were interviewed on campus, and I have reviewed the large number of evaluations from the campus community. In the end I decided that while each of the four had strengths and were capable of filling the position, none of them was the right "fit" for what we needed at UNL at this point in time. Accordingly, I have released them from the search.
The search remains open and the search committee is continuing its work. I will report as progress is made. Thank you for your patience. This is a critical position for UNL and I know all of us have high expectations for the person ultimately selected.
