The Employee Assistance Program offers a variety of smoking cessation programs and will host an information session from noon to 1 p.m. Oct. 31 in the 501 Building, room 128.
The presentation will include information on how to quit smoking with the help of a group, friend or individually. Participants who decide to continue with the program will be provided printed materials and educational information about nicotine addiction.
The EAP smoking cessation program helps participants discover specific triggers for why they smoke and offers coping strategies to help deal with stress. Areas of discussion may include various strategies for quitting, medications for withdrawal symptoms and ideas for lifestyle changes to improve chances for success.
The program offers a supportive atmosphere, accountability and the personal experience of others.
