The “WRAP” housing and garage build will impact parking and bus routes east of the 17th and R St. parking garage.

Construction of the 18th and R streets parking structure and private housing development will begin March 1.

The project will displace faculty, staff and student parking in the 18th and R streets parking lot (located between 18th Street and North Antelope Valley Parkway and Q and R streets). It will also close an intercampus bus stop (StarTran route 24) on the north side of R Street between 17th and 18th streets. An alternate bus stop for west-bound passengers will be located at the corner of 17th and Q streets.

Faculty and staff Area A parking is available in the lot south of the Beadle Center or at 17th and Vine streets, east of Sandoz Hall. Student Area C and R parking is available in the lot south of the Beadle Center and south of the 900 building at 21st and Vine streets.

The mixed-use university parking and residential facility was approved by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents in October 2012. The parking structure will accommodate 1,654 vehicles and management office space. More than 1,250 of the parking stalls will be reserved for university parking. “The WRAP” housing facility will include 475 beds and be designed primarily for UNL students.

The WRAP housing project is being developed by American First Real estate Group, which was selected through a competitive bid process. The design may also incorporate commercial tenants if demand merits. For more information on the project, go to http://go.unl.edu/7i9.
