Colorful Creature Day will take place from 1 to 4:30 p.m. May 18 at the University of Nebraska State Museum of Natural History in Morrill Hall. This family-friendly event will celebrate the fun, furry side of science.
Colorful Creature Day will feature live animals and art activities in the museum. Various groups will be on hand to give children the opportunity learn about and interact with different creatures, including, spiders, birds, snakes and amphibians.
At 3:30 p.m., Wildlife Encounters will showcase exotic animals in Elephant Hall, including a fennec fox, kangaroo, alligator, red tegu, tarantula and hissing cockroaches. Runza Rex and Archie the Mammoth will also make appearances.
Presenting organizations include: UNL School of Biological Sciences, Wildlife Encounters, Pioneers Park Nature Center, Raptor Recovery, Lincoln Children's Zoo, Guild of Natural Scientific Illustrators-Great Plains Chapter, Museum Scientific Illustration, Spring Creek Prairie Audubon, UNL Wildlife Club/Environmental Studies Program, Nebraska Parrot Rescue, Nebraska Herpetological Society and Rabbits R Us 4-H Club.
