Nebraska Football Uplifting Athletes is a recognized student organization at UNL and is one of 21 chapters nationally. Each chapter has selected a rare disease to create awareness and raise research funds. The Nebraska football team chose pediatric brain cancer, based on the mentoring relationship between Husker running back Rex Burkhead (now with the Cincinnati Bengals), and Jack Hoffman, a 7-year-old with pediatric brain cancer.
