The Husker men’s basketball program is offering a variety of summer camps and clinics for children. The camps, in June and July, are designed to increase skill levels while participants compete in contest and games against youth of similar age and ability level. Camps offered by Husker head coach Doc Sadler and his staff include:
Little Dribblers Camp (boys and girls, ages 5-8) — This camp has an emphasis on the fundamentals of the game and is geared toward younger children. June 13-16, 10 a.m. to noon. $75 per participant.
Half-Day Camp (boys and girls, ages 8-18) — This camp has an emphasis on developing the basic fundamentals of basketball (shooting, dribbling, passing and defense). The camp includes instruction, drills, contests and daily 5-on-5 team games. Players are grouped according to age, height and ability level. June 13-16, 1:30 to 5 p.m. $150 per participant.
Overnight Camp (ages 8-18) — This camp will offer instruction by Coach Sadler and his coaching staff to improve each camper's basketball techniques. All basic basketball principles will be emphasized to improve each camper. Camp will also include daily 5-on-5 team games. Campers can choose to stay in the dorm or be a commuter. June 26-29. $295 for participants staying on campus; $225 for commuter participants.
Day Camp (boys and girls, ages 8-18) — This camp has an emphasis on developing the basic fundamentals of basketball - shooting, dribbling, passing and defense. The camp includes instruction, drills, contests and daily 5-on-5 team games. Players are grouped according to age, height and ability level. July 25-28, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. $225 per participant (lunch provided).
Ballhandling and Shooting Clinic (boys and girls, ages 8-18) — This clinic focuses on the offensive fundamentals of the game. Shooting, dribbling and passing techniques will be taught to each camper. July 29, 9 a.m. to noon. $50 per participant.
Post Player Specialty Clinic (boys and girls, ages 8-18) — This camp will focus on improving post play, including offensive techniques. July 29, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. $50 per participant.
Team Camp — Each team is guaranteed six games. Every team must have an accompanying coach and a minimum of eight players. Coaches must call Chris Croft at (402) 472-2265 to make a reservation. June 25-26. $75 per participant, includes two meals and a T-shirt. No campus housing offered.
