State of the U, service awards, all-university picnic are today

Chancellor Harvey Perlman will outline university priorities for the coming year in his 12th State of the University annual address at 11 a.m. today at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. The lecture is open to faculty, staff, students and the public.

In keeping with the ongoing discussions about UNL entering the Big Ten Conference, the theme for the speech is “Think Big.”

The State of the University address will be preceded by UNL’s annual Employee Service Award program at 10:30 a.m. in the Lied Center. More than 900 UNL employees will be honored and receive awards for years of service to the university. Immediately after the address, the all-university picnic will be held outside the Lied Center. Streets will be closed for the picnic on 12th Street between Q and R streets and R Street between 12th and 13th streets.

The speech will be streamed live on the web at http://www.unl.edu and televised on NebSat 105, Campus Channel 4, Lincoln Cable Channel 21 and KRNU Radio (90.3 FM).

Shuttles (Bus 24) from East Campus to the Lied Center will run from Burr-Fedde, Ag Hall, Animal Science and the College of Law, returning from the Nebraska Union bus stop on the south side of R Street.
