Statistical experts to address secondary analysis Dec. 9

The Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools will continue its 2011-2012 Research Methodology Series with a presentation from CYFS statistics and measurement consultants Natalie Koziol and Ann Arthur.

Koziol and Arthur will present “An Introduction to Secondary Data Analysis” 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dec. 9 in 234 Mabel Lee Hall. The presentation is free and requires no registration.

After summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of using secondary data, Koziol and Arthur will introduce relevant methodological considerations that include sampling weights, standard error estimation, and suppression. They will illustrate these concepts using examples from data sets sponsored by the National Center for Education Statistics. Koziol and Arthur will also briefly address related funding and training opportunities.
