When deciding on a major, there are many places you can start. It's a good idea to begin exploring and experimenting with different interests in high school. Career and major exploration can help guide you towards your future in college. Whether it be in or outside of school, here are some ways you can clarify your interests and skills and find a major that is fit for you!

In school:
• Take classes related to your interests
o Ex: students interested in pre-health might take classes like anatomy, medical terminology, or a CNA class
• Talk to school counselors
• Join clubs
• Join career and college prep programs
o Ex: The Career Academy

Outside of school:
• Reflect on your own strengths & values
o This could help you see what you want to pursue and develop goals
• Research different careers
• Work part-time jobs
• Volunteer/get involved in the community

Around 20 to 50 percent of students enter college as undecided, and approximately 75 percent of students change their major at least once before graduation. If you are currently unsure about which major you wish to pursue when transitioning from high school into college, you are not alone! There are plenty of actions you can take to better understand which major and future career is best suited for you!
