ITS is presenting several client management training opportunities for departmental IT staff who support both Mac and Windows operating systems. For Mac support, a 2-day JAMF Casper Suite training session will be offered January 6 and 8, 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the City Campus Union. These sessions will cover the basics of using the Casper Suite to manage Mac OS X and iOS devices, the UNL implementation of the Casper Suite, and any policies/procedures that are available at that time. All IT staff are invited to attend, registration is required.
An all-day open lab for both Microsoft SCCM and the Casper Suite will be held January 10, in the City Campus Union. Phil Redfern, Nate Morris, Shawn Aguirre, and Jon Ross will be available to answer questions and help campus IT get their SCCM and Casper sites created, with policies and workflows in place for managing Windows, Mac OS X, and iOS. Department IT must agree to the usage policies prior to gaining access to SCCM and Casper. Please bring a laptop or mobile device to use during this hands-on session. At 1:00 PM, representatives from Apple will be holding a roundtable discussion and demonstrating some of the latest technology built into iOMacS and Mac OS. Managed Distribution is a new application deployment option built into VPP, for both Mac OS and iOS devices. This new program will be covered in detail, along with a demonstration of this exciting new deployment method. Also during this session, we will look at some of the new features in Mavericks - and also any other topics of interest (as time allows).
Hands on assistance with setting up SCCM and Casper sites is also available upon request, beginning January 13. Please contact Phil Redfern for Casper and Shawn Aguirre for SCCM. They will arrange a time to come to your department to walk you through the process of setting up SCCM or Casper for use in your department. Department IT must agree to the usage policies prior to gaining access to SCCM and Casper.
