Susan Thomas, HAPPI Business Center accounting associate and 31-year employee of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, was honored with the University of Nebraska Office Professionals Association Rose Frolik Award at the UNOPA awards luncheon April 12.
Thomas was nominated by her coworkers in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture for being a cheerful leader who has consistently stepped forward to help UNOPA, the department and the community. According to her nominators, Thomas has been an engaged employee who maximizes individual and group excellence to make life and work better. She never waivers in dedication to her position, consistently performs well above expectations while maintaining a very positive, often infectious, demeanor and treats everyone with respect and openness.
A member of UNOPA since 1999, Thomas has served on the Hospitality Committee for 13 years—three years as director—and has participated often in professional growth and Nebraska Office Professionals Association events.
At the department level, Thomas was elected to the Staff Advisory Committee and was appointed to the department activities committee. She served as treasurer for both.
Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and is a member of the alumni association.
The Rose Frolik Award was established in 1988 to recognize a UNOPA member who demonstrates the attributes of UNOPA's founder and first president, Rose Frolik. Frolik was an enthusiastic, energetic person who challenged life and felt that how you do your work may be a lot more important than what you do.
