University of Nebraska–Lincoln agronomy major, Kristen Albrecht, from Pierce, Nebraska, has been chosen for the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America and Soil Science Society of America’s National Student Recognition Program. This program recognizes outstanding undergraduate seniors enrolled in agronomic, crop, soil, or environmental science departments within four-year and two-year institutions that have chapters affiliated with the Students of Agronomy, Soils and Environmental Sciences.

Albrecht is a member of the Agronomy Club and served as vice president this year. She was also nominated for Outstanding Student Officer at the CASNR Week banquet April 9. She plans to graduate this May and begin a full-time position at Midwest Bank in Plainview, Nebraska, as a loan administrator.

According to Albrecht, one of her best experiences while at the university, was the opportunity to connect with people from all over the world. “Being a teaching assistant for Agronomy 153 Soil Resources, for four semesters, really allowed me to make those connections and learn about cultures from multiple countries,” she said.

Recipients of the National Student Recognition Program are selected based on scholarship, leadership activities and personal traits. The program is supported by the ASA, CSSA and SSSA and recipients receive recognition in the April issue of CSA News (https://dl.sciencesocieties.org/publications/csa/articles/62/4/36), the official monthly magazine of the three societies. They will also receive a plaque and the opportunity to apply for the Frank D. Keim Graduate Fellowship.
