INTERNSHIPS: SUSTAINABLITY IN MANUFACTURING

UNL Partners in Pollution Prevention (P3)
Who: Sophomore to Senior Engineering students

What: Provide applied research and technical assistance to manufacturers focused on energy
and waste reduction.

When: May 17 to 27 (Lincoln)
May 31 to August 12, 2022 (multiple sites in Nebraska)

Benefits for interns:
 Training and experience in providing real clients with energy and waste reducing
recommendations
 $9,000 to $10,000 for summer, depending upon the location
 Meals and lodging during training at UNL for those assigned assist a client outside of
Lincoln
 For students assistance a client outside of their home community, contacts with possible
housing options will be provided. Students will be asked to spend a few hours in April
selecting a housing option that match their own preferences.
 Work-related travel & expense reimbursement in specific cases
 3 credit hour course (senior elective class)

Communicating with Industrial Staff
Applied Research
Preparing documented recommendations
Business Management Report Preparation
Life Cycle Assessment and Env. Benchmark Metrics
All applied as part of a two-week long practice assessment of an actual business
