About the Department of Civil Engineering: At the undergraduate level, the Department of Civil Engineering offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering and Management. At the graduate level the Department offers Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Construction Management, and a Master of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering as well as a Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering with concentrations in construction management, environmental, geotechnical, infrastructural, structural, or transportation engineering.

The department has an enrollment of 595 undergraduate and over 100 graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D. students). The Department of Civil Engineering faculty is actively involved in sponsored research with annual expenditures of more than $4.1 million. Research activities are carried out in multiple research laboratories at the Department and at research centers in the College and the University.

Job Description:
The Department of Civil Engineering of The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor to begin in fall 2024.

The Department welcomes applications from outstanding candidates in advanced drinking water treatment technology and engineering, in areas such as membrane technologies, desalination, removal of emerging contaminants, water reuse, lead and copper management, and decentralized water systems. The expertise we are seeking in a senior faculty will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission and goals of the Department of Civil Engineering. By significantly ramping up our water and wastewater treatment technology, complementing our existing expertise in water resources management, and leveraging the proposed hire's skills and experience, our department will be positioned to elevate UTEP from a regional to a global center for water solutions. This individual will play a pivotal role in not only maintaining but also nurturing and strengthening our existing partnership with El Paso Water, as well as state and federal funding agencies. We are seeking candidates who can lead department growth, complement current expertise, and contribute to interdisciplinary research focus areas at the UTEP College of Engineering through fundamental disciplinary and/or application-specific research.

Candidates will be expected to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching, contribute institutional and professional service, and develop vigorous, externally funded research programs in their technical areas. Requirements:
A Ph.D. in civil and/or environmental engineering or a related field. Commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. Demonstrated scholarly achievements as evidenced by a track record of publications. Demonstrated potential for establishing an extramurally funded research program. Demonstrated commitment to UTEP's access, excellence, and impact mission. Excellent communication skills are required.
