Who is Central Federal Lands Highway Division?

At Central Federal Lands Highway Division (CFLHD), we work in the most beautiful locations in our Nation. That’s because all our projects connect to and traverse federal lands, including National Parks, National Forests, and Wildlife Refuges. Our partners rely upon us to solve unique project challenges that are wide-ranging in environment, geography, and complexity, through engineering solutions that are both culturally and environmentally sensitive to the context of the land. We are seeking students in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields to join us in providing planning, design, and construction administration of roadway, trail, and bridge projects. We are offering internship, entry-level, and mid-level opportunities.

If you're a Civil Engineering student graduating in Spring 2024 and a U.S. citizen with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, you can apply directly by emailing your resume and unofficial transcript to erin.jessee@dot.gov. Prospective candidates are required to submit their resume and transcript within a two-week period from the receipt of this email.
This program allows entry-level individuals to continue exploring aspects within civil engineering by rotating between disciplines such as hydraulics, safety, environment while gaining hands-on experience in highway design and construction management.
