CIVE 491/891: Special Topics in Civil Engineering Advanced Materials of Construction

Course Contents: This course introduces applications, properties, and production technologies of various types of advanced construction materials, including aggregate, cement, concrete, asphalt concrete, steel, and fiber-reinforced polymer. Scientific concepts, including nano materials and technology, rheology, particle packing, smart and biomimicry materials, and recent advances in construction materials, including 3D printing, self-healing materials, and recycled materials, as well as discussion of from Roman concrete to modern materials, sustainability, and resiliency, are also to be covered.
