Abstract: Abstract: Bridge engineering is a versatile career while
requiring detailed and specific technical knowledge. Join Barney
on this professional journey into the world of bridge engineering
and learn where it took him and what he needed to advance up
the technical track. From undergraduate, graduate and eventually
doctoral studies, each step can open additional opportunities and
present career path choices. Learn the technical hurtles to
become a national expert in a specific field, or choose the
broader path of versatility and project management.

Speaker Bio: Bernard A. Frankl, Ph.D., PE., has designed and rated
hundreds highway structures, including steel girder bridges, tied
arch bridges, steel truss bridges, prestressed girder bridges, slab
(continuous concrete) bridges, reinforced concrete girder bridges,
movable steel bridges, reinforced concrete tunnels, and
reinforced concrete box culverts. Bernard has extensive
experience in advanced modelling of bridge and tunnel structures
from an array of structural analysis software. His versatility
includes extensive experience in load rating of bridge and tunnel
structures and has intimate knowledge of both design and load
rating specifications, both on the state and national levels.
