The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) at North Carolina State University (NCSU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Geotechnical Engineering. We are seeking candidates with demonstrated expertise and a strong research record in geotechnical and geomechanics engineering.

The originality and promise of the candidates’ work will be given high priority rather than the candidate’s area of research within Geotechnical Engineering. However, we wish to highlight some specific areas of interest which include: 1) infrastructure sustainability and resilience to natural hazards in the context of climate change, 2) bio-inspired geotechnics and innovative foundation support systems, and 3) network-level performance monitoring via big data analytics, and/or remote sensing. We seek individuals with strong domain expertise who have a demonstrated interest in working with colleagues within other areas of civil engineering (and/or across other disciplines) and are responsive to emerging research questions aimed at the betterment of civil infrastructure.

Ideal candidates will have the ability to:
-Develop and sustain a nationally recognized, externally funded research program within their area of specialization.
-Teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in geotechnical engineering and related fields.
-Collaborate effectively across disciplines to advance the missions of the department and the college.
-Participate in multidisciplinary initiatives and contribute to departmental service.

Review of applications will begin on October 15, 2024, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The expected start date is July 1, 2025

Interested candidates should feel free to contact search committee chair Dr. Ashly Cabas (amcabasm@ncsu.edu) for additional information.
