The Department of CEE at USF is seeking a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor who can develop a funded interdisciplinary research program in critical challenges in transportation infrastructure systems, particularly in areas that bridge transportation and environmental impacts. Candidates with research experience focused on transportation resilience, especially in addressing flooding risks from the compound effects of sea level rise, rainstorms, and infrastructure failures will be given preference. Interdisciplinary research that bridges transportation and environmental impacts is considered a plus for this position. The candidate must also be qualified to teach/develop courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the above interdisciplinary areas.
The candidate will be expected to develop and lead a funded research program by securing external research grants from federal agencies such as NSF, DOT, EPA, DOE, and other relevant organizations.
Collaboration with colleagues across various disciplines—including civil engineering, environmental and water resources engineering, marine science, urban planning, and data science—is essential. The candidate will also be expected to publish high-impact research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences. Additional responsibilities include teaching and developing courses related to transportation systems and smart, resilient infrastructure, supervising and mentoring graduate students on theses and dissertations, and engaging in professional service activities, including participation in departmental, college, and university committees.
