UMaine invites applications for a tenure track position in environmental engineering. Applicants must hold B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline specializing in environmental engineering by the hire date.

Preferred areas of expertise include water chemistry, remediation of emerging pollutants (for example, PFAS), advanced water treatment, pollutant fate and transport, and environmental systems or water quality modeling. The position is expected to be filled at the level of Assistant Professor. A successful candidate will be expected to have or be eligible to obtain licensure as a registered professional engineer (PE).

The successful candidate will join a dynamic engineering program dedicated to high-quality teaching, scholarship, and service UMaine is the state’s primary graduate degree-granting institution. Sixteen interdisciplinary research centers and institutes afford excellent opportunities for collaborative research (https://umaine.edu/research/research-centers-institutes/).

UMaine has recently embarked on a campuswide PFAS+ research initiative (https://umaine.edu/pfas/) and is building a state-of-the-art PFAS laboratory. Furthermore, the Advanced Computing Group and Advanced Research Computing, Security, and Information Management (ARCSIM), offers significant computational resources to support high-performance computing, advanced data storage and management, and visualization.
