Title: AI and the Practice of Structural Engineering

Abstract: The practice of structural engineering is constantly evolving and progressing, and modern developments in tools and software permit designs that would have been nearly impossible to realize via legacy methods. In this discussion we will investigate some of those developments and how they are impacting the practice of engineering today. We will also attempt to look into the future to consider how additional enhancements in Artificial Intelligence may impact our future as engineers. We may even get to discuss some of the moral and ethical challenges the industry currently faces as a result of AI enabled tools. This presentation will be vastly improved by audience participation and lots of question and answer!
