Changes in the PGA Golf Management Internship Program

Internships are Abundant for 2016!
Internships are Abundant for 2016!

A great deal of time and energy have gone into making sure the program is the best it can be, and even effort has gone into making some alterations to drive the program to the forefront of PGA Golf Management University Programs nationwide.

This started with market demand for interns. The internship program is a central part of the total program, and it is important to ensure that all students get the most out of it. It has become apparent that the high-value internship experiences are those that are 6 to 7 months long. Historically the program has consisted of 4 distinct internship experiences (3 short 3-month internships and 1 extended 7-month internship). Based on feedback from students and facilities, UNL students will now follow a pattern of 3 distinct experiences -- still totaling 16 months.

The scope and sequence has always evolved in our PGA golf management curriculum. We have changed some course requirements and altered some sequencing of our courses to better accommodate students' schedules with the modifications within the internship program.

We are optimistic that this change will have a positive impact on the total program.
