ON THE JOB with Parking and Transit Services: Providing safe parking areas. Safe. Reliable. Convenient.

The work of the Parking and Transit Services team impacts on daily campus life for students, faculty and staff.

One of the primary areas of responsibility and impact is providing safe parking areas. During the summer, staff and construction teams are busy repairing and improving parking areas across campuses.
Seventeen parking lots will have significant repairs made, including sealing cracks with seal coating or asphalt,
To accomplish these repairs, lots may be closed for a few days.
When the surface repairs are completed, these parking areas will have new yellow parking lines re-striped.
An additional 20 to 30 lots will have new striping applied to ensure the parking stalls are clearly marked.

Why does this surface work matter?
Your safety.
Parking and Transit Services make sure that you have a clear walk to your vehicle.
Nothing to trip or stumble.
No cracks or holes for your vehicle to drive over.
The parking lines provide a defined spot for you to park, safely away from neighboring vehicles.

Another major area of continuing maintenance and improvement is lighting.
Most large parking lots have recently been updated. Smaller lots are on the list for improvement this summer.
New LED lights provide better lighting for the full parking area.

Why have this attention on lighting?
Again: Your safety.
Walking to your vehicle at night is easier for you if the area is well lit.

Other general maintenance work continues throughout the year.
Repairing damaged curb stops.
Removing debris.
Ensuring only authorized vehicles (with permits) are parked in each designated area.

Parking and Transit Services is ON THE JOB for you.
