Sales for new 2016 – 2017 parking permits are set to begin.

Great news: There are no increases in parking permit costs. All rates remain the same as last year.

“We are pleased to be able to hold these costs steady for students, faculty and staff,” said Dan Carpenter, Director, Parking and Transit Services. “Our efforts to keep operating expenses in line have shown success. We, along with the Parking Advisory Committee, are sharing this good news.”

Permits can be purchased online beginning April 15 at http://parking.unl.edu/

Annual permits will be mailed in June and nine month permits will be mailed in August.

Beginning June 1, permits can be purchased at the Parking and Transit Services office, 625 Stadium Drive, Suite A.

New permits must be displayed July 1.

Payment can be made with credit card, cash, check, employee payroll deduction or student consolidated billing. A new payment option has been added specifically for graduate students, monthly consolidated billing.

Student permits connect to housing units

For students living in on-campus housing, surface lot parking permits will now be assigned by housing units. Permits are designated for R-1, R-2, and R-3.

“We made this addition to provide convenience for students and efficient use of space,” Carpenter explained. (New plans are detailed in story below.)

Semester option eliminated

Annual and nine month permits are available for purchase. Single semester permits are no longer available. If you find that you no longer need to park on campus, return the permit for a prorated refund and cancel any future payment obligations.

Bus permits are available for order

New UNL/StartTran bus permits also may be ordered now. Free bus passes will be distributed to students in August, thanks to the student transit fee paid through student fees. Bus passes for faculty and staff who purchase parking permits are available, on request, at no additional cost. Bus passes may also be purchased separately.
