Free 'Study Strategies' workshop, Sept. 21

General Studies is offering a Study Strategies workshop from 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21 in Mari’s Lounge in the Abel/Sandoz complex. Dr. Kenneth Kiewra, author of several books on learning, will present the session. The session is designed to help students learn to integrate information. The session is free and open to all students.

Kenneth A. Kiewra is a professor of educational psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Professor Kiewra is certified in elementary education and secondary English education. He taught third grade and coached tennis in Miller Place, NY. Dr. Kiewra later earned his Ph.D. from Florida State University and was also on the faculty at Kansas State University and Utah State University. Kiewra's research pertains to teaching and learning in general and to aspects of the SOAR teaching and learning method in particular. He has authored over 60 articles along with three books: Learning to Learn: Making the Transition from Student to Life-Long Learner, Learn How to Study and SOAR to Success, and Teaching How to Learn. Dr. Kiewra is the former director of the University of Nebraska's Academic Success Center and the former editor of Educational Psychology Review. He is a frequent presenter having made more than 400 presentations to faculty and student groups.
