David Wishart will receive the UNL Parents Association “Certificate of Recognition for Contributions to Students” in honor of his continued efforts to improve students’ experiences on campus.

Wishart, a professor in the School of Natural Resources and chief undergraduate adviser for the Geography Program, said, “It’s always a great honor to be given this recognition, which comes directly from students.”

UNL students nominate staff or faculty members who have “made a significant contribution to their lives while at UNL.” The UNL Parents Association collects these nominations and presents the awards.

“I feel that the heart of my job is teaching students,” Wishart said. “I always try to give them their money’s worth, to open them up to new ideas, and to help them form their own opinions.”

“In turn,” he added, “they keep me young.”

UNL’s Teaching Council and the Parents Association will present this award at a reception on February 8, at 2:30 p.m. in the Centennial Room of the UNL City Campus Union.

This will be Wishart’s seventh UNL Parents Association Recognition Award.
