Women's self defense training is Feb. 19

Campus Recreation is offering a Women's Self Defense training session, 1 to 5 p.m., Feb. 19 in the Rec Center's combative arts room. The session will be taught by Tim Gorhman of Omaha's Six Point Self Defense.

Training will cover basic awareness, posture, how to stay vocal, basic striking, choke defense, ground assault defense and some weapon defense. Participants will also learn how to deal with a carjacking and how to use everyday purse items as weapons, followed by an attack simulation. Each class will last approximately four hours depending upon the number of participants.

Cost is $25 for UNL students and Campus Rec members, and $75 for the general public.
