Math conference registration open through today

Registration is open through today for UNL's Enacting Standards for Mathematical Practices conference. The event, which is Oct. 21-22, includes a banquet during which UNL professor Jim Lewis will be honored for contributions to math education.

The conference will bring together experts from the fields of mathematics and mathematics education, including mathematicians, teacher educators, researchers, and classroom teachers, to discuss the nationwide problem of operationalizing and implementing the processes and proficiencies embedded in mathematical practice standards from the Common Core State Standards in K-12 classrooms in meaningful, high-quality ways.

The plenary speakers for the conference are: Hyman Bass, University of Michigan; Sybilla Beckmann, University of Georgia; Mark Driscoll, Education Development Center; Matthew Larson, Lincoln Public Schools; and Bill McCallum, University of Arizona.
