Marvin Hamlisch is an artist of many talents. As a composer, Hamlisch has won virtually every major award that exists - three Oscars, four Grammys, three Emmys, a Tony, and three Golden Globe awards. His groundbreaking Broadway show, A Chorus Line, received the Pulitzer Prize. Hamlisch is also a gifted pianist and entertainer. For the Lied Center performance, Hamlisch will be joined by guest vocalist Stephen Lehew.
B.B. King's name is synonymous with the blues. With hits like "The Thrill is Gone" and "Rock Me Baby," he has earned an enormous following and even at age 77, King and his beloved guitar Lucille still give the fans what they want. Testifying to his continued skill as a musician, King was presented with two Grammy awards last month. Over his distinguished career, B.B. King has garnered an incredible 27 Grammy nominations.

Music Icons Punctuate Lied Season
Appearances by two legendary performers will mark spectacular finale to the Lied Center for Performing Arts 2002/03 season. It all starts when Grammy Award-winning composer/musician Marvin Hamlisch makes a return visit to the Lied Center on Tuesday, May 13, at 7:30pm. Then the hits just keep coming when blues legend B.B. King takes the stage for a performance Saturday evening, May 17 at 7:30pm.

As part of the Lied Center's ongoing education programming, pre-performance talks will be held in the Lied's Steinhart Room 30 minutes prior to curtain for each of these performances.
Tickets for the Marvin Hamlisch performance are $39 and $34. B.B. King tickets will sell for $49.50 and $44.50. UNL, Nebraska Wesleyan University and Doane College students as well as youth 18 and younger, with proper identification, can purchase tickets to either show for $5 off.

Vast Viburnum Variety
The Maxwell Arborutum collection of viburnum cultivars on East Campus will be the subjct of a walking tour Wednesday at 12:15pm. These versatile shrubs beautify shade with their varied sizes, textures and colors and diverse flowers and fruits. Led by Emily Levine, grounds supervisor for UNL Landscape Services on East Campus, the tour is free and open to the public.
