'Backyard Farmer' Live at C.Y. Thompson Library
Before getting too far along on spring yard work and planting, it might be a good idea to get some tips from the panelists for NET Television's "Backyard Farmer" program.
An opportunity to do so is at 7 p.m. at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's C.Y. Thompson Library on East Campus' Arbor Drive, where panelists will give tips and answer questions from audience members about plants, bugs, lawns and other topics on gardening. more...

In recognition of the College of Arts & Sciences Appreciation Days, the Arts and Sciences Student Advisory Board will be handing out free food and drinks on the Plaza of the Nebraska Union from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. There will also be free massages available and a raffle for Southpointe Mall gift cards.

Art Farm @ Sheldon Continues
"Art Farm @ Sheldon," continues at the at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Sheldon Museum of Art. The exhibition is a collaborative project with Jeff Day, an associate professor of architecture at UNL, and UNL architecture students.
The exhibition, on view through April 27, concerns the complex interrelationship of art, landscape and architecture in a rural context. It focuses on design proposals for the development of Art Farm, a nonprofit art residency program situated on a 40-acre working farm near Marquette. more...

4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days and Snow Angels Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days and Snow Angels. Both films will show through April 24.
On the heels of Cristi Puiu's brilliant The Death of Mr. Lazarescu comes another outstanding picture, 4 Months, 3 Week, and 2 Days, which firmly establishes Romania as a major force in early 21st-century world cinema. Winner of the Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, Cristian Mungiu's excruciatingly intense drama is set in Bucharest in the mid-1980s, as Nicolae Ceaucescu and his evil dictatorship continue to reign. In a country where abortion is outlawed, a young college student, Gabita (Laura Vasiliu), finds herself in big trouble. Unsure what to do, she turns to her roommate, Otilia (Anamaria Marinca), for help. The pair connects with a black market doctor Bebe (Vlad Ivanov), in order to take care of Gabita's pregnancy--but, of course, it isn't that simple. The resulting 24 hours reveals a harrowing descent into a world in which the possibility of tragedy lurks around every corner.
Snow Angels, adapted from the novel of the same title by Stewart O'Nan, is two stories of love and loss converging. One is of a recently separated couple attempting to pick up the threads of a future when faced with tragedy. The second is about an awkward young man, currently in the throes of discovering his first romance, forced to deal with the separation and subsequent strife of his parents' relationship. Snow Angels is written and directed by critically acclaimed filmmaker David Gordon Green.
