American President Exhibit Opens
Starting today, the AP Breaking News exhibit titled "The American President" will be on display at Harold and Marian Andersen Hall. The traveling display is hosted by the College of Journalism and Mass Communications.
The Associated Press, the world's largest news organization, has prepared the exhibit of presidential images. The collection shows presidents at war, at ease, on the campaign stump, and traveling internationally, along with assassination images (JFK) and standout photos from the current race for the White House.
Welcome to Campus: Here's What's New
Students and faculty this week are seeing updated residences, construction on a new Physics building, and new roadways opening in the Antelope Valley.
New in the headlines is UNL's ranking in the U.S. News and World Report annual college evaluation. UNL for the fifth straight year listed in the top 50 of Public National Universities (at number 40), and in the top 100 of all U.S. colleges and universities (at number 89).
When you're finding your way around campus, notice the construction at 16th and W Streets, our new Physical Sciences building. Next week ground breaks on a new residence hall at 17th and R streets. That's welcome news to students who feel a bit squeezed in temporary housing.
Keep an eye on parking lots and streets that are changing: the lot at 17th and R closes next week for the hall construction, and Antelope Valley Roadway opens Thursday between Vine and Y streets.

The Wackness and The Fall Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents The Wackness and The Fall. Both films will show through August 28.
In The Wackness, it's the summer of 1994, and the streets of New York are pulsing with hip-hop and wafting with the sweet aroma of marijuana--but change is in the air. The newly inaugurated mayor, Rudy Giuliani, is beginning to implement his anti-fun initiatives against "crimes" like noisy portable radios, graffiti and public drunkenness. Set against this backdrop, Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck) spends his last summer before college selling dope throughout New York City, trading it with his shrink (Ben Kingsley) for therapy, while crushing on his step-daughter (Olivia Thirlby). Famke Janssen, Mary Kate Olsen, and Method Man round out the cast in this edgy, bittersweet and funny coming of age story.
The Fall takes place in Los Angeles circa 1920's. An immigrant girl (Catinca Untaru) finds herself in a hospital recovering from a fall. She strikes up a friendship with a bedridden man (Lee Pace) who captivates her with a whimsical story that removes her far from the hospital doldrums into the exotic landscapes of her imagination. Making sure he keeps the girl interested in the story he interweaves her family and people she likes from the hospital into his tale. Shot on location in 28 countries around the world, award-winning music video, commercial and film director Tarsem Singh weaves a visually sumptuous film full of exotic characters and breathtaking landscapes.
