Chayes Answers More Questions from Thompson Forum Lecture
E.N. Thompson Forum speaker Sarah Chayes has written answers to questions that didn't fit into the alloted time at her recent visit. They are now available on the E.N. Thompson Forum website along with a podcast of her lecture and initial Q&A session.
UNL Dining Halls to Begin Trayless Dining
In an effort to reduce food waste, improve environmental impact and bring down costs, University of Nebraska-Lincoln dining halls will convert to a trayless system on Wednesday, March 25.
The decision to eliminate trays in the five campus dining halls was made official after UNL's student Residence Hall Association voted 30-6 March 8 to support a resolution endorsing the move. more...

Ellis Delivers AIA Lecture on Pompeii
The Lincoln-Omaha Society of the Archaeological Institute of America announces the fifth lecture on archaeology for the 2008-2009 season. Professor Steven Ellis, from the University of Cincinnati, will be speaking on his recent excavations at the buried Roman city of Pompeii in Room 15 of Richards Hall at 7:30 p.m.
Ellis' expertise lays in the fascinating field of Roman sociology, in particular the mechanics of the underbelly of ancient Roman society. His work in understanding the social mechanics involved in crime, tavern culture, prostitution, etc., has garnered high accolades. In addition to his scholarship, Ellis has served since 2004 as Project Director for one of the few non-Italian excavations at the buried city of Pompeii, where he is bringing to light one of the city's residential blocks.

The Oscar-Nominated Short Films of 2009, A Thousand Years Of Good Prayers Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents The Oscar-Nominated Short Films of 2009, A Thousand Years Of Good Prayers. All films will screen through March 26.
The Oscar-Nominated Short Films of 2009 is a program showcasing the Academy Award nominees and winners in the Animated Short Film and Live Action Short categories. For a full list of films, visit the Ross website.
After working on mainstream Hollywood comedies such as Maid In Manhattan and The Last Holiday, director Wayne Wang returns to independent dramas with A Thousand Years Of Good Prayers. In this film, Mr. Shi (Henry O) comes to the United States to see his divorced daughter, Yilan (Faye Yu). Mr. Shi soon discovers that it wasn't just age and the distance separating him from his daughter, and he tries to learn more about Yilan, despite her best efforts.
