Alumnus, Internationally Acclaimed Scientist Jay Keasling to talk at UNL
"Bio-Bricks to Bio-Businesses: Building Synthetic Biology Companies" is the title of an address to be delivered twice on Friday, Sept. 25 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln by Jay Keasling, biologist at the University of California, Berkeley, and a native of Harvard, Nebraska.
Keasling will inspire UNL faculty and students to develop new technologies with both life-saving and commercial potential. His lecture will also be of interest to a non-scientific audience, and both presentations are free and open to the public. His lectures are Sept. 25, at 10 a.m. at the Nebraska Union Auditorium, 1400 R St., and 2 p.m. at Hardin Hall Auditorium, 33rd and Holdrege streets on East Campus. more...
Nebraska Alumni Association Hosts Homecoming Events
The Nebraska Alumni Association hosts a celebration for University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Homecoming at the Wick Alumni Center. A variety of events are planned for Sept. 25 from 4:30-7:30 p.m., at the center's Holling Garden, 16th and R streets.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and the night begins with the alumni association's Football Friday. At 5 p.m., a panel of former Huskers and local media will preview the Nebraska vs. Louisiana-Lafayette game and answer fans' questions. At 6 p.m., the public is invited to watch the Homecoming parade from the Holling Garden. The parade features grand marshal Johnny Rodgers, floats, the Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band, Herbie Husker and Lil' Red, and the NU Spirit Squad. more....

Husker Homecoming Events for Students, Alumni, Fans Planned This Weekend
Concerts, a parade, decorations, tailgating, a blood drive, pep rally, coronation -- all are part of the annual homecoming celebration week activities planned at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Sept. 21-26. Students, Husker fans, alumni and guests and visitors are welcome to "Come on Home" to any of the campus activities, most of which are free and open to the public.
On Friday, September 25, the Nebraska Alumni Association will host Football Friday at the Wick Alumni Center, Holling Garden, 16th and R streets, doors open at 4:30 p.m. At 6 p.m., the Homecoming parade with grand marshal Johnny Rodgers, floats, the Cornhusker Marching Band, Herbie Husker and Lil' Red, NU Spirit Squad will spirit through campus, and at 6:45 p.m. the Come On Home pep rally will introduce the homecoming royalty candidates and feature former Huskers and NU Spirit Squad. At 6:30 p.m., the Lied Center for Performing Arts celebrates its 20th anniversary season with a free party featuring Lincoln's own a capella group "No Better Cause," the UNL Marching Band, and cake, all at the Lied Center. On Saturday, September 26, Nebraska will take on Louisiana-Lafayette at 6 p.m. at Memorial Stadium for the 300th consecutive sellout. Lied Center to Host 20th Anniversary Party Sept. 25
The Lied Center for Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will celebrate its 20th anniversary season Sept. 25 with a free party featuring the Cornhusker Marching Band and Lincoln's own a capella group, No Better Cause.
