There's nothing University of Nebraska-Lincoln physicist Herman Batelaan likes more than a challenge. And there are few areas of science more challenging than working at the sub-atomic, or quantum, world, where the laws of physics are different from those of our macro world.

For the last four years, a little-known area within that field has captured his attention -- the Aharonov-Bohm effect. Predicted by theorists Yakir Aharonov and David Bohm in 1959, the effect is a phenomenon where electrons can be affected by electromagnetic potentials without coming in contact with actual force fields. more...

Eli Young Band
UPC Homecoming Concert: Eli Young Band and Aaron Watson

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's University Program Council will sponsor an outdoor concert with The Eli Young Band and Aaron Watson 8 p.m. to midnight on the East Campus Mall.

This special Homecoming concert is co-sponsored by ASUN Student Government, the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and 96KX. This event is free and open to all UNL students. Shuttles will provide transportation to and from City Campus. In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the Nebraska State Fair Park Open Air Auditorium. more...

Husker Homecoming Events for Students, Alumni, Fans Planned Sept. 21-26

Concerts, a parade, decorations, tailgating, a blood drive, pep rally, coronation -- all are part of the annual homecoming celebration week activities planned at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Sept. 21-26. Students, Husker fans, alumni and guests and visitors are welcome to "Come on Home" to any of the campus activities, most of which are free and open to the public.

Today, a City Campus Blood Drive will be held in the Centennial Room of the Nebraska Union from 9:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Homecoming Royalty Election voting will also take place in the Nebraska Union, Campus Recreation, and Nebraska East Union from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. as well as online. more...
