College of Journalism and Mass Communications Holds Public Forum

The search committee for the position of Dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications has selected candidates for on-campus interviews and planned the series of presentations at which the university community and the public are welcome. Today, an open forum will be held with David Stoeffler from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in 15 Andersen Hall.
Stoeffler is principal of Touchstone News Consulting in Ferryville, Wis., and a consultant for the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism in Madison, Wis. He previously was general manager for Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis; interim publisher of Glens Falls (N.Y.) Post-Star; publisher/editor of the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson; and was vice president for news at Lee Enterprises. He was editor of the Lincoln Journal Star from May 1997-December 2001 and prior to that was editor of the La Crosse (Wis.) Tribune. He began his career as a reporter, then assistant city editor, state editor and city editor, all at the Wisconsin State Journal in Madison, Wis. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from Viterbo University, La Crosse, Wis.
MLK Jr Week Activities Continue

Martin Luther King Jr. Week events at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln continue with a student play and coffee house speaker.
At 11:30 a.m. at the University Child Care Center, the second grade class from Clinton Elementary School will perform Big Words, Strong Words, a play about King, Jr.'s life. At 6 p.m., a coffee house event will be held at the Nebraska Union, with the featured speaker Patti Miller. Prizes will also be awarded for the essay contest winners and refreshments will be served.

Student Involvement Hosts Spring Volunteer Fair

Student Involvement will host its annual Spring Volunteer Fair from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Nebraska Union. By volunteering you can become more involved in the Lincoln community and build your resume to strengthen your resumes and applications.
Student Involvement Service-Learning and the Arts and Sciences Pre-Professional Advising Center are collaborating to assist Pre-Health and Pre-Law majors find volunteer opportunities in their career fields. Come "weigh" your options at the Spring Volunteer Fair.
Red Cliff, Broken Embraces Play at the Ross

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Red Cliff and Broken Embraces. Red Cliff will screen through January 21, while Broken Embraces will show through January 28.
