College of Business Administration Holds Public Forum

The search committee for the position of Dean of the College of Business Administration has selected candidates for on-campus interviews and planned the series of presentations at which the university community and the public are welcome. Today, an open forum will be held with Doug Guthrie from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in the Steinhart Room, Lied Center.

Guthrie has been a professor of management and a professor of sociology at New York University since 2005, where he has been with the Stern School of Business, serving as faculty director of Executive Education for the past two years. He previously was a visiting professor of business administration at Harvard Business School, a visiting associate professor of management at Goizueta School of Business, Emory University; and with the graduate schools of business at Columbia and Stanford universities. At New York University 1999-2004 he was associate professor of sociology, was director of graduate studies for the department, NYU director of Global Education and director of undergraduate studies for sociology and an assistant professor of sociology 1999-2000. His Ph.D. and master's of arts are in sociology from University of California, Berkeley, and his bachelor's is in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from University of Chicago.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Week

Martin Luther King Jr. Week events at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln continue with a service learning project and an open mic.

From 2 - 6 p.m., participants will volunteer at various sites around the community in honor of Dr. King's vision for community outreach. At 6 p.m., an open mic will be held at The Culture Center, addressing issues surrounding the work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Get RecD CAMPUS RECREATION, 11AM - 4PM
'Get Rec'd' Kicks Off at UNL Campus Recreation

The 2010 edition of Get Rec'd will hit the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus Jan. 21 and 22. Held at the Campus Recreation Center, north of 14th and Vine streets, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, the festival will showcase the wares of more than 95 local, regional and national companies to 20,000 student, faculty, staff and community supporters. Admission is free and the event is open to the general public.

Attendees will have the opportunity to visit vendor booths, try out new products, collect give-away items, grab a bite to eat, and enter to win over prizes through both drawings and contests. Last year, more than $26,000 in prizes were awarded to attendees through official Get Rec'd contests and many more prizes, valued in the thousands of dollars, were given away directly from exhibiting vendors at their booths. more...

Red Cliff, Broken Embraces Play at the Ross

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Red Cliff and Broken Embraces. Red Cliff will screen through January 21, while Broken Embraces will show through January 28.
