College of Law Holds Public Forum
Anna Shavers

The search committee for the position of Dean of the College of Law has selected candidates for on-campus interviews and planned the series of presentations at which the university community and the public are welcome. Today, an open forum will be held with Anna Shavers from noon - 1:30 p.m. in Room 111 at the College of Law.

Shavers is interim dean and Cline Williams Professor of Citizenship Law at the UNL College of Law. Shavers joined the UNL law faculty in 1989. She received her B.S. from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, and her M.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She received her J.D. from the University of Minnesota. Shavers teaches administrative law, immigration law, gender issues and civil procedure. She is a board member of the Midwestern People of Color Legal Scholarship Conference Inc.; liaison for the American Bar Association Administrative Law Section to the ABA Commission on Immigration; and publication chair of the ABA Administrative Law Section. She was elected as Fellow to the Administrative Law Section for the ABA. She is a frequent national and international presenter on immigration and administrative law issues.

Get RecD CAMPUS RECREATION, 11AM - 4PM
'Get Rec'd' at UNL Campus Recreation

The 2010 edition of Get Rec'd will hit the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus Jan. 21 and 22. Held at the Campus Recreation Center, north of 14th and Vine streets, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, the festival will showcase the wares of more than 95 local, regional and national companies to 20,000 student, faculty, staff and community supporters. Admission is free and the event is open to the general public.

Attendees will have the opportunity to visit vendor booths, try out new products, collect give-away items, grab a bite to eat, and enter to win prizes through both drawings and contests. Last year, more than $26,000 in prizes were awarded to attendees through official Get Rec'd contests and many more prizes, valued in the thousands of dollars, were given away directly from exhibiting vendors at their booths. more...

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Red Cliff and Broken Embraces. Red Cliff will screen through January 21, while Broken Embraces will show through January 28.

UPC Presents Hypnotist Jim Wand

On Friday, University Program Council presents hypnotist Jim Wand at 9 p.m. in the Nebraska East Union Great Plains Room. This event is free for UNL students with a valid NCard, or $3 for faculty, staff and the general public.

Wand is part of the Campus NightLife event on Friday, January 22, at the Nebraska East Union. From 8 p.m. to midnight, enjoy bowling, crafts, karaoke, mocktails and video games. From 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., Wand will perform in the Great Plains Room (free for UNL students and $3 for public/faculty/staff), followed by a Bathtub Dogs performance at 11 p.m. and a pancake feed from 11 p.m. to midnight.
