Fine and Performing Arts Holds Grad Student Showcase
The annual Celebration of Graduate Student Work will be from noon to 4 p.m. in the Van Brunt Visitors Center at 13th and Q Streets on the University of Nebraska Lincoln city campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Graduate students from the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts (School of Music, Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, and Department of Art and Art History), the College of Architecture, and the College of Education and Human Sciences (Department of Textiles, Clothing and Design) will display their work at the showcase. Visitors then have the opportunity to view their work, talk with the graduate students about their creative process, and ask questions about their projects. more...
Lied Center Presents "One Night of Queen"
The United Kingdom's most successful rock show, "One Night of Queen," celebrating the music of rock-and-roll legend and Queen front man, Freddie Mercury, will arrive at the Lied Center for Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. March 11. Performed by Gary Mullen and The Works, "One Night of Queen" is a vivid recreation of the music of Queen. Together they play all the band's chart-topping hits, including "We Will Rock You," "A Kind of Magic," "We Are the Champions," "Somebody to Love" and "Bohemian Rhapsody."
Tickets for this performance are $48, $43, and $38. University of Nebraska-Lincoln students with a valid ID and youth age 18 or younger, may purchase tickets for half price. Registration Open for NU Tech Day
University of Nebraska staff, faculty and administrators from all NU universities are invited to attend the 2010 NU Tech Day March 17 at the Nebraska Union on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus. Richard Katz, Vice President of Educause, will be the luncheon keynote speaker. Katz's talk will provide context for the importance of cloud computing to universities.
The theme of the day-long conference is, "IT-Supporting the Business and Mission of the University." Session topics include project management, classroom technologies, E-commerce solutions, social technologies, security and the new student information system. There is no cost to participants to attend the sessions or the luncheon, but space is limited. To register on line, visit the NU Tech Day website.
The White Ribbon, Oscar-Nominated Crazy Heart Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents The White Ribbon and Crazy Heart. Both films will show through March 11.

The university continues to closely monitor the worldwide and local impact of H1N1 flu.
