Carranza Named to National Working Group on Children's Health Insurance
Miguel Carranza, professor of sociology and ethnic studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has been appointed to the Children's Health Insurance Program working group. His appointment was awarded by U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathryn Sebelius and Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis.
The charge for this 25-member national CHIP working group is to develop a model coverage coordination disclosure form and identify impediments to the effective coordination of coverage between group health plans and state plans under Titles XIX and XXI of the Social Security Act. Its first meeting will be later this month.
"Given some of the important issues being discussed in the current legislative session, I was pleased to accept this appointment as it is quite timely and relevant to all Nebraskans and the state," Carranza said.
