University of Nebraska-Lincoln to join Big Ten Conference

Big Ten Conference Commissioner James E. Delany today confirmed that the Big Ten Conference Council of Presidents/Chancellors voted to approve the application from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for Big Ten membership.

Earlier today the University of Nebraska Board of Regents voted to allow UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman to apply for membership in the Big Ten.

"We are pleased that the presidents and chancellors of the Big Ten schools agree that the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is a proper partner," Perlman said. "From both an academics standpoint and an athletics perspective, this makes sense for the future of our university." The Good, The Bad, The Weird; Mother Play at the Ross

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents The Good, The Bad, The Weird and Mother. Both films will screen through June 17.

Jazz in June Continues With Angela Hagenbach

The Jazz in June concert series on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus continues on Tuesday, June 15 with Angela Hagenbach. The concert begin at 7 p.m. under the trees on the plaza west of Sheldon Museum of Art.

A favorite of Jazz in June crowds, Kansas City singer-songwriter Hagenbach will return to Jazz In June with her quintet. A fashion-model-turned-jazz-singer, Hagenbach's voice has been described as a mocha-rich contralto with razor-sharp intonation. more...

 

Whittier
Whittier Renovation Earns Local Accolade

UNL has received an award for combining environmental design, historical preservation and sustainability into the renovation of Whittier Junior High School.

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department presented UNL with the 2010 Environmental Leadership Award in the government category during a June 3 ceremony at the Nebraska Champions Club. Alan Wedige, the project manager in Facilities Planning and Construction who oversaw the Whittier renovation, accepted the award on behalf of UNL. more...
