University of Nebraska-Lincoln to join Big Ten Conference
Big Ten Conference Commissioner James E. Delany today confirmed that the Big Ten Conference Council of Presidents/Chancellors voted to approve the application from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for Big Ten membership.
Earlier today the University of Nebraska Board of Regents voted to allow UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman to apply for membership in the Big Ten.
"We are pleased that the presidents and chancellors of the Big Ten schools agree that the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is a proper partner," Perlman said. "From both an academics standpoint and an athletics perspective, this makes sense for the future of our university." Academic Planning Committee Budget Hearing is June 25
The APC hearing on proposed budget reductions will be held on June 25 in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center on City Campus. The task of the APC is to review the Chancellor's proposed cuts in light of their probable impact on the university's academic mission and approve them or suggest other ways of meeting the budget reduction goal. To accomplish this task, the APC welcomes information from all who may be affected by the proposed reductions.

Cronin Brothers Play Fountain Frolics Thursday
The Fountain Frolics summer concert series continues with The Cronin Brothers June 17 on the Nebraska Union Plaza. The veteran group of musicians from various backgrounds plays selections from many genres including rock and roll, blues, folk, instrumental surf, psychedelic and vintage '60s, '70s and '80s pop, and country.
Fountain Frolics concerts are noon to 1 p.m. every Thursday through July 29 (except July 1). UNL's University Program Council sponsors local musical entertainment and sells a picnic lunch of a hot dog, chips and a Pepsi product for $4 under the north overhang of the Nebraska Union.
The Good, The Bad, The Weird; Mother Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents The Good, The Bad, The Weird and Mother. Both films will screen through June 17.
