East Campus Welcome Back is Today
The annual East Campus Welcome Back event is 4 to 7 p.m. on the north side of the East Union. The event includes a club fair and picnic. Recognized student organizations will provide information and give-a-ways.

Final Day of Morrill Hall's Free Thursday Nights
A promotion offering free admission to Morrill Hall on Thursday evenings will end Aug. 26. The free admission is offered from 4:30 to 8 p.m.
Regular admission to Mueller Planetarium fulldome shows will apply. After Aug. 26, Morrill Hall will continue to be open until 8 p.m. Thursdays, but beginning Sept. 2, regular admission will be charged. more...
Center for Plant Science Innovation to Host Reception

UNL's Center for Plant Science Innovation is hosting a reception to thank Sally Mackenzie for her leadership and service as director and to welcome Ed Cahoon as the newly appointed director. The reception is 4:30 p.m. in the Beadle Center Atrium.
Mackenzie, the Ralph and Alice Raikes Professor of Agronomy and Horticulture, came to UNL from Purdue University in 1999 and was appointed founding director of the Plant Science Initiative. PSI was charged with establishing a long-term vision for enhancing plant science research strength at UNL in support of Nebraska's agricultural industrymore...

Students and faculty this week are welcomed back to a campus with the new Knoll Residential Center at 17th and R streets, the new Theodore Jorgensen Hall at 855 N. 16th St., a new parking garage at 19th and Vine streets, and new roadways open in the Antelope Valley.
New in the headlines is UNL's ranking in the U.S. News and World Report annual college evaluation. UNL for the seventh straight year listed in the top 50 of Public National Universities (at number 47), and ranked near the top third of all public or private national universities, tied with six others at 104th.
The Office of Research and Economic Development also announced last week that research funding at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln increased nearly 14 percent this year to a record of more than $139 million.

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky and Joan Rivers: A Piece Of Work. Both films will show through Aug. 26.
