Cornhusker Marching Band Roster Announced
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's 288-member Cornhusker Marching Band will make its 2010 debut Sept. 4 at Memorial Stadium with pre-game and halftime performances at Nebraska's football season opener against Western Kentucky.
This year's band includes representatives from nearly every region of the country, but 83 percent of the students are from Nebraska. Approximately 20 percent of the students are music or music education majors. The remainder of the students are studying in more than 70 other degree programs across campus. UNLPD Brown Bag Session is Today
University Police will present a free brown bag session on situational awareness, noon to 1 p.m., Aug. 30 in the Nebraska Union (room posted). The session will include safety tips and what individuals can do in situations that pose danger on campus, from bad weather to encountering someone with a gun.
Faculty, staff and students can register for the session at http://ittraining.unl.edu, but walk-ins are welcome. Individuals who attend are encouraged to bring a lunch.

Ramsay Helps Craft Tool That Turns Blogs Into Books
When UNL associate professor of English Steve Ramsay signed up for a first-of-its-kind digital humanities workshop, he expected to learn something, but hadn't banked on a weeklong project changing the future of digital publishing.
Ramsay, a longtime software writer and fellow at UNL's Center for Digital Research in the Humanities, teamed with 11 other scholars from across the country to create a prototype tool that easily turns blog entries into books. Plan To Honor University Hall Takes Shape
With the completed demolition of Ferguson Hall, university officials are moving forward with a plan to honor University Hall, the first building on campus.
Ferguson Hall was demolished this summer after physics and astronomy faculty and staff moved into the newly constructed Jorgensen Hall. A video tour of Jorgensen is available on the College of Arts & Sciences website. more...
