UNL Fall Enrollment Up Again, This Time 2.1 Percent

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's fall 2010 estimated enrollment reached a 15-year high of 24,610, including an increase of 113 first-time freshmen over fall 2009. The census estimates were reported today to the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

The figures show 19,383 undergraduates (an increase of 2.3 percent); 4,620 graduate students (an increase of 0.6 percent) and 510 students in professional programs (an increase of 2.1 percent). The number of transfer students increased 2.3 percent and enrollment of first-time, fulltime freshmen increased 2.8 percent. more....

Campus Kicks Off Husker Football Season

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln welcomed thousands to campus this weekend for the first game of the 2010 football season, as the Cornhuskers played the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky.

 

Student Life Complex Open House is Sept. 10

The Athletic Department is offering an open house of the new Student Life Complex, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Sept. 10 at Memorial Stadium. The open house is for all UNL faculty and staff.

Members of Nebraska's Academic, Life Skills and Compliance staff will be on hand to showcase the new facility which is home to the Hewit Academic Center, Abbott Life Skills Center, D.J. Study: Gen-Xers Only Half as Likely Than Boomers To 'Lose Their Religion'

Generation X, the set of Americans who came of age in the late 1980s and early 1990s, is often branded as a rules-rejecting, authority-questioning group. But when it comes to religion, new research has revealed that Gen-Xers (born between 1961 and 1981) are surprisingly loyal to their faith -- a finding that also suggests the rising non-religious tide in the United States may be leveling off.

In a study published in the latest edition of The Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, University of Nebraska-Lincoln sociologist Philip Schwadel showed that Gen-Xers are, in comparison with their Baby Boomer predecessors, far more likely to adhere to their religion. In fact, Boomers are 40 to 50 percent more likely than Gen-Xers to "disaffiliate" from their faith. more...
