Medieval and Renaissance Studies Program Celebrates 15 Years

The Medieval and Renaissance Studies Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln celebrates its 15th anniversary with a display of publications by faculty and alumni of the University since its founding in 1869. Display cases on the second floor of Love North & South, and in the basement of Love South will features books, articles, and other scholarly and artistic works.

The celebration for the opening of the exhibit is Sept 9th at 4:30 p.m. in Love Library Room 110. A reception will follow at 5:30pm in Love 2nd floor North.

State of the University Address

Chancellor Harvey Perlman delivering 2009 State of the University address

UNL Chancellor Perlman To Present Annual Address

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman will deliver his annual State of the University address during the third week of fall classes. His speech begins at 11 a.m. Sept. 9 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, 301 N. 12th St. Perlman will review the successes of the past year and describe the challenges and opportunities offered by the 2010-11 academic year. The address is free and open to the public and will be broadcast live on the web (link available here at start time), Lincoln Time Warner cable Channel 21, NebSat 105, KRNU Radio (90.3 FM) and Campus Channel 4.

The State of the University address will be preceded by UNL's annual Employee Service Award recognition program at 10:30 a.m. in the Lied Center. Immediately after the address, the all-university picnic will be in the Lied Plaza, sponsored by University Dining Services and its vendors. more...

 

UNL Space and Cyber Law Conference is Sept. 9-10 in Washington, D.C.
Washington D.C. Conference

A host of national policy experts, including the vice-chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, NASA's deputy administrator and a renowned security expert and cryptographer, will tackle a range of cyberwarfare and U.S. space strategy issues at the University of Nebraska College of Law's Space and Cyber Policy Conference on Sept. 9-10 in Washington, D.C.

The first day will feature experts on cyberwarfare strategies and will include a keynote conversation between security expert Bruce Schneier, chief security technology officer at BT Managed Security Solutions Group and author of the blog "Schneier on Security;" and Stewart Baker, former assistant secretary for policy at the Department of Homeland Security and author of "Skating on Stilts: Why We Aren't Stopping Tomorrow's Terrorism" (Hoover Institution Press, 2010). more...
