Nebraska Alumni Association Hosts Football Fridays
Former Husker football players, current Nebraska athletic coaches and other local celebrities headline the Nebraska Alumni Association's 2010 Football Friday event on Sept. 10. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and the program is from 5:30 to 7. Football Friday is free and open to the public, and food and drink will be available for purchase. Fans in attendance have the opportunity to win football tickets, Champions Club passes and Husker memorabilia.
Featured guests this week include former players Dan Alexander, Matt Davison, and Steve Taylor, along with John Bishop (KLIN), Brian Rosenthal (Lincoln Journal Star), and Kevin Sjuts (KOLN/KGIN 10/11).

UNL Chancellor Perlman Presents Annual Address
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman delivered his annual State of the University address on Sept. 9 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. Perlman reviewed the successes of the past year and described the challenges and opportunities offered by the 2010-11 academic year. The address is posted on the Chancellor's website.
The State of the University address was preceded by UNL's annual Employee Service Award recognition program at 10:30 a.m. in the Lied Center. more...
Knoll Residential Center Dedication Is Friday
The new Robert E. Knoll Residential Center will be dedicated at a ceremony 5 p.m. Sept. 10 at the second-floor lobby of the residence hall.
A memorial display featuring Knoll will be unveiled at the ceremony, with dedication speeches delivered by UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman, University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Juan Franco, and student government ASUN president Justin Solomon. Two of Knoll's children, Sarah Knoll German ('81) and Benjamin Knoll ('83) will also speak at the dedication. more...
UNL Space and Cyber Law Conference is Sept. 9-10 in Washington, D.C.
A host of national policy experts, including the vice-chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, NASA's deputy administrator and a renowned security expert and cryptographer, will tackle a range of cyberwarfare and U.S. space strategy issues at the University of Nebraska College of Law's Space and Cyber Policy Conference on Sept. 9-10 in Washington, D.C.
The first day will feature experts on cyberwarfare strategies and will include a keynote conversation between security expert Bruce Schneier, chief security technology officer at BT Managed Security Solutions Group and author of the blog "Schneier on Security;" and Stewart Baker, former assistant secretary for policy at the Department of Homeland Security and author of "Skating on Stilts: Why We Aren't Stopping Tomorrow's Terrorism" (Hoover Institution Press, 2010). more...
