UCARE

The Office of Undergraduate Studies is sponsoring a research night, 5:30-6:30 p.m., Oct. 27 in the Nebraska Union. Laura Damuth, director of undergraduate research, will be on hand to discuss how students can become engaged in research through the university's UCARE program.

The Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experiences Program, supported by the Office of Undergraduate Studies and funded by the Pepsi Endowment and Program of Excellence funds, creates intellectual partnerships between UNL faculty and undergraduates by providing funds for research. more...

 

Volunteers Needed for EPA Gameday Challenge
UNL Recycles

Colleges nationwide are battling to be the college that recycles the most during football games. UNL will compete during the Missouri game Oct. 30 and needs at least 75 volunteers to pick up recyclables after the 2:30 p.m. game.

Refreshments will be offered. If interested, e-mail ercgdaychallenge@hotmail.com. The UNL Environmental Resource Center registered the university as Gameday Challenge contender with the Environmental Protection Agency to help increase positive environmental among the entire UNL community.

Psychology Professor to Examine Eyewitness Identification Procedures

Gary Wells

Gary Wells, psychology professor at Iowa State University, will present "Mistaken Eyewitness Identification and False Certainty: Using Psychological Science to Combat Wrongful Convictions" at 3:30 p.m., Oct. 27 in Burnett Hall room 107. The lecture will be followed by a reception.

Wells is an internationally recognized scholar who has written over 170 articles and two books. Most of this work has been focused on the reliability of eyewitness identification. His conclusions about eyewitness identification have received national media attention in such outlets as the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times and The New York Times. more...
