Phi Beta Delta Seeks Nominations for International Achievement
Phi Beta Delta, the honor society recognizing international achievements, is seeking nominations for its annual "UNL International Scholar of the Year" awards. Faculty and student nominations are due Feb. 28.
A ceremony honoring the award winners will be held in April. Information and nomination forms can be found at the website below.

Programs Earn Cooper Foundation Awards
The Cooper Foundation announced grant awards to the International Quilt Study Center and Museum and UNL's E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues.
The quilt museum received $8,825 to support the exhibition "Elegant Geometry: American and British Mosaic Patchwork." The exhibit opens May 28. The Cooper Foundation also awarded $13,921 to support the Thompson Forum. The lecture series offers Nebraskans thought provoking lectures by speakers whose work and ideas impact the world.
"The objectifying gaze may lead to a vicious cycle in which women underperform in their work, giving people the impression that their looks are more important than what they do," said Sarah Gervais, a UNL assistant professor of psychology and the study's lead author. "Unfortunately, this cycle may persist if women continue to interact with the people who led them to underperform in the first place." more...

Ballroom and Country Dance Lessons Start Tuesday
UNL Campus Recreation is offering Ballroom and Country Dance Lessons from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday nights Feb. 8-Mar. 1. Classes will meet at the East Campus Union.
Participants will learn the waltz, swing, slow dance, country two-step, Latin, and disco steps. Class instructor will adapt the types of dances taught according to the interest of the class. Open to UNL students, faculty/staff, and general public. It is recommended to sign up with a partner to ensure you have someone to practice with during class. more...

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Another Year and The Illusionist. Both films will screen through Feb. 17.
