Sheldon Museum of Art director J. Daniel Veneciano and Omaha artist Jun Kaneko will hold a discussion at 5 p.m., March 4 in the Sheldon's Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium. Kaneko and Veneciano will discuss the artist's new book "Play's The Thing: Reading the Art of Jun Kaneko."
After the discussion, Kaneko will sign copies of the book in the Great Hall. The book is available for purchase in the Sheldon Museum Store.

'A Chorus Line' comes to the Lied March 4-5
The nine-time Tony Award-winning musical, "A Chorus Line" will play three performances at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. Show times are 7:30 p.m., March 4-5, and 2 p.m., March 5.
"A Chorus Line" is a musical about Broadway dancers auditioning for spots on a chorus line. The production features 19 main characters and is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theater. The show provides glimpses into the personalities of the performers and the choreographer as they describe events that have shaped their lives and decisions to become dancers. Tickets for the Lied Center performances are $52/$47/$39 for general admission, and half price for students (with valid identification). Quilt Study Center Hosts Lecture on First Friday

Jonathan Gregory, an assistant curator of exhibitions at the International Quilt Study Center and Museum, will give a lecture on Ernest Haight, an engineer who quilted, at 5:30 p.m., today. The First Friday lecture, "The Engineer Who Could: The Quiltmaking of Ernest B. Haight," is at the IQSC and is free and open to the public.
Haight graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1924 with a degree in engineering. He spent his career farming land near David City homesteaded by his grandparents. He also made at least 300 quilts between 1935 and 1985. more...
Waste Land; Oscar-Nominated Shorts 2011: Animation and Live Action at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Waste Land and Oscar-Nominated Shorts of 2011 in Animation and Live Action. Screenings for all films will run through Mar. 10.
