White House Asks Swearer to Share Bullying Expertise

The Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools and the Obama administration have asked Susan Swearer, associate professor of school psychology, to share her expertise on the causes of and solutions for bullying during a conference this week at the White House.
Swearer, a national expert on the subject, is among a select panel of researchers taking part in the White House Conference on Bullying Prevention, which will take place in the East Room on March 10. The conference, which begins at 9:30 a.m., will be live-streamed at the White House website more...

'Celebration of Graduate Student Work' is Today
The annual "Celebration of Graduate Student Work" will be held from noon to 4 p.m., March 10 in the Van Brunt Visitors Center. Twenty-two graduate students from three colleges will display their work at the showcase. The event is free and open to the public.
"This event gives us a wonderful opportunity to showcase the work of our graduate students in the arts in an informal setting, one in which the students can have a personal dialogue with those who come to view the various graduate projects," said Giacomo M. Oliva, dean of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. "It also offers our graduate students an opportunity to interact and share their work with graduate students from the Colleges of Architecture and Education and Human Sciences." UNL's Classic Literature Club will host Stanley Lombardo, professor of classic at the University of Kansas, at 7:30 p.m., March 10 in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center room 202. Lombardo will perform excerpts from his translations of Homer, Virgil and Dante.

Waste Land; Oscar-Nominated Shorts 2011: Animation and Live Action at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Waste Land and Oscar-Nominated Shorts of 2011 in Animation and Live Action. Screenings for all films will run through Mar. 10.
